Tell me - crème egg, yay or nae? A little sugary Tell me - crème egg, yay or nae?
A little sugary pick-me-up while writing today… I’ve got a couple of chapters left in the novel I’ve been working on through winter and spring — The Witch of Rock Cove — and this little creme egg is pulling me through.
Confession time: I have many refined tastes, but when I need a guilty pleasure? It’s creme eggs and Monster Munch all the way. (Shockingly unclassy? Possibly. Comforting? Absolutely.)
I know I’m not alone in this… so tell me, what’s your go-to treat when you need a boost? Sweet, salty, weird—no judgement here!
Here I am—post-deadline chaos—camped out with Here I am—post-deadline chaos—camped out with my laptop and baby monitor, equal parts relief and exhaustion. The last two weeks were a whirlwind of final edits for my novel, and naturally, everything that could go wrong did go wrong right at the finish line. My laptop crashed (yes, with all the unsaved changes 😭), and despite usually being super careful about backups, I’d made a ton of last-minute edits that vanished with it. So, say hello to my “new” (secondhand) Mac in the background 👋

On the bright side: baby naps are finally getting more predictable after weeks of illness, teething, and general baby chaos. And now that edits are off to my editor, I’m diving back into my draft—the one that got sidelined by all the editing madness. Current working title: The Witch of Rock Cove... but that’ll probably change!

Writing, parenting, crashing computers—it’s all happening. Thanks for sticking with me

All are available in paperback and ebook. A lot of people love the convenience of ebooks, but I’ve always been a paperback kind of person. There’s just something about the feel of a real book in your hands. You can toss it in your bag, read it in the bath, and not stress about cracked screens—just dust it off and keep reading.

What about you? Do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks?

‘Elevate and leave the flickering screen’ I am ‘Elevate and leave the flickering screen’ I am so conflicted and dare I say it…addicted. Being on my phone I make the excuse it’s for my business, but I wouldn’t be on it if I didn’t want to right? I’m trying to consciously not be on my phone - we blame socials, but also I use it for anything and everything - I find it’s permanently in my hand, checking weather, looking at a recipe that’s popped in my head to make for dinner, messaging a friend. It’s constantly there. I feel I need to step back, but I’m struggling where to even start! Anyone else there?

Caught in the chaos of a sick little one at home, Caught in the chaos of a sick little one at home, doing my best to keep the rest of the house germ-free! Throwing it back to my last pram walk—can’t complain about the view, right? At least I’m making the most of the downtime: editing one book, writing another. The key is taking it step by step… progress might feel slow, but it always adds up in the end. Here’s to the little hiccups along the way and (hopefully) staying healthy! 🤞✨ #WritingLife #MomLife #BeachWalks #OnePageAtATime
✨ How important is place in my novels? Absolutel ✨ How important is place in my novels? Absolutely everything! ✨

I’m currently writing Book 2 in my new series, tentatively titled Rock Cove. It’s inspired by a blend of real locations, including a charming east coast fishing town in the Scottish Highlands. Just heading out for a walk, soaking in the views, the people, and the energy—it all fuels my creativity.

Starting a new year by diving into a fresh book is such an anchor for me mentally. With a newborn at home (and loving every second of this precious stage!), writing is also my escape. It’s where I get to be me—creating characters I adore, weaving stories I want to lose myself in, and hopefully spreading love and light to my readers.

I’ll always search for the light, even when the world feels dark, because that’s what guides us forward. 💡

Right now, I’m about one-sixth through the novel, and there’s a long way to go. I don’t often share much about my writing process, but it feels important to say: some days are for writing, others aren’t, and that’s okay. After penning eight novels so far, I know the trickiest part often comes at about one-third of the way through—when the “block” hits, and things get sticky. But I’m excited to see where this journey leads. 🖋️

Let’s see where this story goes!

Looking up 🌅. ‘A new dawn, it’s a new day, Looking up 🌅. ‘A new dawn, it’s a new day, and I’m feeling good’. I can’t help but flirt with a new beginning, starting afresh and looking ahead. 2024 has taught me many things, but most importantly, to trust in myself. I’ve grown as a mother, woman, and business owner, learning to trust in my own strength. This year, I’m excited what’s coming both personally and for my author career. I’m thrilled to share new stories set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, aiming to inspire you to believe in yourself and embrace new opportunities. Here’s to a year filled with love, possibilities, and the courage to take chances. 🥂

Much love,

Claire x
