Being a designer and business owner allowed me to follow my dreams, but also led me down the rabbit hole to burn out. Now a mum and starting the next phase of my life as a writer, I’m eager to share my experiences and help other women follow their creative path – steering them away from toxic negativity, but embracing the ups and downs.
Whether you’re here to read my fiction books or my blog… I’m so glad you’ve found me.
I’m a Scottish lass, born and bred in the highlands. I’m from a very quiet rural peninsula on the west coast, which overlooks mountains and a loch.
When the time came to ‘fly the nest’ I went to study costume design in Edinburgh, where I learnt all the skills relating to sewing and design covering historical costume to current trends. This was such a fun way to learn – combining my passions of history and sewing.
I have spent a lot of years travelling across the world and living in different spots. I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures.
I set up my own clothing label for several years, which was inspired by my Scottish roots and focused on using quality locally-made fabrics.
In 2019, I wrote a feel-good book about a city girl who ditches her mundane life for a fresh start on a remote Scottish island (see here). It inspired me to continue writing about strong women overcoming obstacles to chase their dreams.
- I’m very stubborn – if somebody says I can’t do something – then I’m 100% going to do it, no matter what!
- I trekked through Nepal, and went as far up as 5,416 meters at Thorong La Pass.
- I am trained as a radio DJ. I love alternative music – in particular shoe gaze, psychedelic, and folk. I go to gigs whenever I can!
- I’m a bit of a thrill seeker – I’ve skydived, hang-glided, scuba dived and white water rafted.
- I’m an ardent lover of costume dramas and all things period-related. My ultimate bliss is found in the simple pleasures of a glass of wine, a generous bag of crisps, and immersing myself in the latest Jane Austen adaptation on TV!
